Tartar removal prices
Tartar removal is a very minor procedure and perhaps that is why it is not given enough attention. But its impact is as important as it may seem at first glance. Not only is tartar not aesthetically pleasing, it can also be an indicator of bad breath and, in the longer term, cause inflammation, periodontal disease and tooth loss. Below, we have gathered all the important information you need to know about tartar removal and its costs.
When and at what intervals should you expect to pay for dental scaling?
Dental scaling is a very minor treatment that does not take much time but requires regular repetition. You only need to visit our practice once every six months for a one-hour treatment to ensure lifelong health for your teeth and gums, and prevent any potential discomfort that could lead to tooth loss.
How much does a dental scaling treatment cost at PureDental?
You can find the prices for dental scaling in our practice HERE under dental hygiene treatments. Both treatments include plaque removal, tooth polishing and an oral hygiene consultation to keep your teeth healthy. Sandblasting can be an extra cost to keep your teeth even cleaner.
How does professional scaling within the above price ranges work?
Basic scaling is done with an ultrasonic depurator, which is used to remove tartar from above and below the gums. The process is not painful at all, but there may be some sensitivity. The degree of sensitivity depends on the health of the tooth socket. If our patient requires it, anaesthesia is available.
After the tartar is removed, we polish the teeth with a round brush similar to an electric toothbrush to make it harder for plaque to build up on the smoother tooth surface and thus prevent future tartar build-up.
This will be followed by an optional sandblasting, if your patient wishes. This involves blowing a high-pressure dust-water-air mixture over the tooth surface to remove stubbornly stuck discolouration.
During your oral hygiene consultation, our dental hygienist will guide you on how to maintain the beauty and health of your teeth. You can eat and drink after the treatment, but for the next two weeks you should avoid foods and drinks that may cause discolouration.
What other treatments can follow dental scaling and how much do they cost?
Calculus removal is always a preventive treatment for teeth whitening, which also allows more stubborn discolouration to be removed from the teeth. For the cost of in-office Pure teeth whitening and the cost of the equipment needed for at-home treatment, click

Scaling and polishing is an important preventative step in teeth whitening because it is on clean teeth that the whitening agent works best.
We recommend at-home whitening for patients who have only minor discolouration or who have already had a scaling and whitening procedure in our practice.
Plaque staining and its costs to preserve the results of scaling and whitening
With the help of our dental hygienist, you can check the effectiveness of your dental care routine. This can be done by staining plaque, which can be used to stain plaque so that the patient can see the results in the mirror. Afterwards, our expert and the patient discuss the experience together and our colleague will give the patient precise instructions and demonstrate the process of effective plaque removal. Based on the information given, our patient will try out the procedure in practice, after which we will repeat the plaque staining to demonstrate its effectiveness. You can find the cost of treatment and instruction in our dental price list!
