Microscopic root canal treatment

For us, microscopic precision is not a luxury, but standard equipment.

At PureDental’s clinic in District II, we examine the internal structure of the tooth at 20x magnification, allowing us to treat hidden problems that would not be visible to the naked eye. Thanks to microscopic technology, treatment is pinpoint accurate, gentle, and completely painless.

What is microscopic root canal treatment?

With the help of a microscope, the inside of the tooth can be viewed at up to 20x magnification, allowing even the smallest root canals to be treated safely, unlike with traditional root canal treatment. The aim is to remove inflamed or dead nerve tissue, eliminate infection and preserve the tooth in the long term.

When do we recommend microscopic root canal treatment?

Microscopic root canal treatment is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to keep their own teeth and is looking for the most precise and safest solution to eliminate inflammation or infection.

It is especially recommended if you:

  • suffering from severe or recurring toothache
  • Your previous root canal treatment was unsuccessful, and you need a new solution.
  • has complex, branching, or narrow root canals
  • a hidden problem (e.g., broken device or side channel) was diagnosed

How is microscopic root canal treatment performed at our clinic?

The aim of the treatment is to remove the inflamed or dead nerve, eliminate the infection and preserve the tooth in the long term.

1. Removal of inflamed tissue

First, we remove the dead or inflamed nerve (pulp) from the root canal. Then, using a microscope, we thoroughly clean the canals to eliminate the source of infection.

2. Cleaning and temporary filling

The canals are disinfected and then sealed with a temporary, medicated filling. This prevents bacteria from multiplying again between treatments.

3. Final root filling

Once the infection has been completely eliminated, we seal the root canals hermetically with a special gutta-percha material. This excludes bacteria and provides long-term security.

4. The structure of the tooth

The sealed canal is reinforced with a filling, inlay, or crown. This allows the root-treated tooth to function fully for decades.

Frequently asked questions about microscopic root canal treatment

We have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions about microscopic root canal treatment.

When is microscopic root canal treatment justified?
  • For dead or previously unsuccessfully treated teeth
  • For narrow, curved, or branching root canals
  • In case of hidden channels or broken devices
  • When maximum precision and durability are the goal

This depends on the type of tooth and the severity of the infection, but usually 2–3 visits are required for treatment.

Simple case (e.g., incisor): 1 session (60–90 minutes)

Grinding tooth: usually 2–3 times

Microscopic treatment makes the process more thorough, so it may be a little more time-consuming, but the success rate is much higher and the risk of reinfection is reduced.

Even a tooth that shows no symptoms may be dead or infected. Inflammation often spreads silently and can cause serious problems (cysts, focal infections). With microscopic treatment, we can eliminate the infection at an early stage, completely painlessly.

The tooth is restored to a non-inflammatory state and sealed with a root filling. It receives a temporary filling, followed by a permanent restoration (inlay, crown). This strengthens the tooth so that it can last for decades.

The price depends on the type of tooth, the number of canals, and the method of treatment.

  • Traditional root canal treatment: 24,000 – 59,000 HUF
  • Microscopic root canal treatment: 61,000 – 85,000 HUF (depending on tooth type)
